The funding of research by the Central Government:


　　The competitive research funding from the Chinese Central Government is now organized into following 

five channels, after the reorganizing of funding structure: 

　　1.  The National Natural Science Foundation (which currently distributes many of the small-scale 

competitive grants); 

　　2.  National science and technology major projects; 
　　3.  Key national research and development programs; 
　　4.  Special fund to guide technological innovation; and
　　5.  Special projects for developing human resources and infrastructure. 

International Scientific and Technological Cooperation


　　China has established Sci-Tech cooperation relations with 156 countries and regions, signed 108 

inter-governmental cooperation agreements, joined more than 200 international Sci-Tech cooperation 

organizations. A comprehensive, multi-level and multi-channel international Sci-Tech cooperation system 

is taking shape in China.
