The Chinese Government takes research integrity issues seriously, and relevant government and funding
agencies, academies, and the umbrella organization of learned societies, China Association for Science and
Technology have set up offices or committees in charge of promoting research integrity in their respective
jurisdictions, including Offices of Research Integrity of two major research funders, Ministry of Science and
Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Study Ethos Sub-Committees of Ministry of
Education's Committee on Science and Technology, Committee on Social Sciences, and Scientific Ethics
Committees of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering. There is a Joint Committee
for Promoting Research Integrity consisted of 12 agencies and academies, which convenes regularly,
issues documents, and coordinates the work of education and the handling of research misconduct.
There are normally research ethics or study ethos sub-committees within academic committees of universities,
colleges and research institutions. The Ministry of Education and the Chinese Academy of Sciences etc.
also make relevant regulations and provide guidance, e.g. MOE requires that the universities should make
public their relevant policies and procedures, contact information for receiving misconduct allegations, and
the findings of investigation.
